Tonight, the final of EMA 2014, the national final for Slovenia to select their Eurovision Song Contest entry, aired on the channel for the Slovenian national broadcaster, RTVSLO.

Seven acts performed in the final, and it was Tinkara Kovač who emerged victorious after progressing to a super final with Muff,  having made the top two in the initial round of voting.

In the second round of voting the two super finalists were pitted together, and the public voted Tinkara Kovač to represent their nation with the song Spet (Round and round).

Slovenia will compete in the second half of the second semi-final at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 on 8 May.

Last year, Slovenia were represented by Hannah Mancini, who finished last in the first-semi final with her song Straight into love. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Slovenia has only reached the final twice with their most recent successful qualification attempt coming in 2011 when Maja Keuc reached the final in Düsseldorf.

Slovenia’s best result in the Eurovision Song Contest came in 1995 and 2001, where the country finished in 7th on both occasions.

What do you think of Slovenia’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, did they make the right choice?
