This year's Cyprus representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, Evridiki, opens her heart to the readers of esctoday.com . She had her first appointment with the contest 24 years ago and several times, she has renewed the rendez-vouz. Enjoy her first international interview on this year's participation. Born in Aphrodite's island, Cyprus, Evridiki is a 'veteran' at the Eurovision Song Contest. This is the sixth time that we'll enjoy her on stage of the European annual competition, as she has participated three times as a backing vocalist (in 1983, 1986, 1987) and including this year's participation three times as a soloist (1992, 1994, 2007). If we have to add her participations at the Cypriot finals in 1990 and 1991, were she came second, it's her eighth appointment with the Eurovision Song Contest!

Both in 1992 and 1994 she won the national finals. And if it was an 'easy job'' for her to win those finals, it wasn't as easy at the Eurovision Song Contest, achieving those years the comme çi comme ça eleventh place.

This year Evridiki won't have to compete in a national final as the Cyprus public broadcasting service, CyBC, has internally selected her to represent the country. The composer of her song is Dimitris Korgialas, and he will sing on stage with her in Helsinki. The lyricist is Poseidonas Giannopoulos. It's a new wave electro-pop entry with rock colours and it will be officialy presented to the public on 23rd of February in a special show.
