The 2014 Romanian national final Selecţia Naţională 2014 was held today, Saturday 1 March, in Brașov. Paula & Ovi won the competition and will represent Romania at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with the song Miracle.

The Romanian national final took place today in the Romanian city of Brașov. 12 finalists battled at the final for the golden ticket to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. The finalists performed their entries to both the public and the jury. With Vaida winning the public vote with over 7000 votes, it was down to the jury vote to decide who would become the next Romanian representative. After a public-jury votes were combined, Paula & Ovi won the national final with the song Miracle and will fly the Romanian flag in the Danish capital this year.

Romania will compete in the second semi-final at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest on the 8 May.
Romania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1994 with the entry Dincolo de nori performed by Dan Bittman. He ended in 21st place with a total of 14 points. Romania’s best result was in both 2005 (Luminiţa Anghel) and 2010 (Paula Seling & Ovi). After qualifying from their semi-finals, they both ended in 3rd place at the grand final.
Last year, Cezar won the Romanian national selection with his song It’s my life. At the contest, Cezar qualified from the semi-final eventually ending in 13th place at the grand final.
