The nine finalists left for Romanian national selection will meet on Saturday night for the big Romanian final and only one will get the golden ticket for the next Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. After the two semifinals that took place the past weekends, the Romanian national television promises more spectacular, quality entertainment.

During the final's televoting, two well -known names from the Romanian Eurovision will get on stage, Luiza Andreea Sampson and Costel Vlad Logigan. Lumimita Anghel and Mihai Traistariu will be present, promising an outstanding performance of their new duet "We´ re not making love anymore" (originally by Michael Bolton and Patti LaBelle). Also, Sistem, the group that supported Luminita on Kiev's stage in 2005, will perform live their new single "Soare"(sun) for the first time ever. "It will be a great show with new elements and great staging" promised Zoli, the leader of the group. In the past two years, Sistem have enjoyed great popularity in Romania, recently having the opportunity to sing during the Depeche Mode concert last June.

Marius Moga's appeal overruled

The Romanian national committee for the Eurovision Song Contest analysed the objections raised on the 6th February from Marius Moga and Rednex and Ro-mania about the disqualification of the songs "Dracula my love" and "Well-o-wee".The objections were considered groundless and that's why they were rejected.

While rumours are running wild all over Romanian news sites about Wassabi and Morandi having either withdrawn or been disqualified for not attending Thursday's rehearsals, TVR issued a press release a few hours ago including Crazy by Wassabi and Morandi in the final running order. Esctoday.com contacted the Romanian broadcaster and we were assured that things are as stated in the press release. It still remains to be seen, though, whether Marius Moga will go on to boycott the final in protest over Dracula's disqualification as he has already said he would by withdrawing Crazy at the last moment. TVR seem to be prepared for such an event as they have announced a voting system that makes provision for such a case. Specifically, in the case of another disqualification or withdrawal, the voting system will change eliminating the lowest votes. For example if there remain eight songs the votes will be from 3-12, without 9 and 11 of course, if there are seven songs from 4-12 and so on.

The running order for tomorrow's final is as follows:

1.Nico – Dulce-amăruie
2.Trupa Veche – Deci 20
3.Morandi & Wassabi – Crazy
4.Marcel Pavel – No podre vivir
5.Desperado and Tony Poptămaş – Where were you
6.Tibi Scobiola – Nu pot să uit
7.Locomondo – Liubi, liubi, I love you
8.Ionuţ Ungureanu (Provincialii) – Time
9.Desperado and Tony Poptămaş – European a beautiful sin

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
