The singer had insulted a policeman on duty who had halted her for a routine traffic control. Ms Hadad will serve her sentence at an educational institution.

Sarit Hadad, 2002 Israeli entrant, was today sentenced to 100 hours of community labour by the local court in the Rehovot for insulting a policeman on duty.

In August 2001 the singer arrived in Rishon Le'Tzion accompanied by friends when they were asked by the policeman to pull over for a routine check. Ms Hadad allegedly abused the policeman, whereas Ms Hadad's lawyer had claimed inappropriate conduct of the policeman. The trial had been postponed till now due to Ms Hadad's tight schedule, including the recent Eurovision Song Contest.

She was sentenced to 100 hours of community service at an educational institution. Her lawyer was pleased with the outcome, but Ms Hadad refused to comment during the trial.
