The finalists performed 2 songs each; a cover of a well-known song along with their bidding entries. After a public-jury deliberation, Sebalter won the national final with the song Hunter of stars and will fly the Swiss flag in the Danish capital this year.

Switzerland hosted and debuted at the very first Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956 with their 2 entries Das alte Karussell and Refrain, both performed by Lys Assia. As voted for by the members of the jury, Lys’ French entry Refrain won the competition. Switzerland also won the contest with a total of 137 points in 1988 when Céline Dion was selected to represent Switzerland with her song Ne partez pas sans moi.

Last year, Takasa were chosen to represent their country at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest after winning the Swiss national final with their song You and me. Takasa received 41 points in the semi-final, ending in 13th place and therefore failing to qualify to the grand final.
