Afro-Dite member Blossom Tainton and her boyfriend Hans Lindquist have lived together for ten years. Yesterday, on Blossom's 40th birthday, they got married.
Blossom proposed to her now husband Hans after Afro-Dite in February this year, and four months later they are lawfully wedded husband and wife.
The ceremony was quite informal, and only relatives and the closest of friends, hereunder Ms Tainton's band members from Afro-Dite Gladys del Pilar and Kayo Shekoni, were invited.
Ms Tainton's father, Mr Graham Tainton – cousin to this year's Polar Prize winner Miriam Makeba – discreetly shed a tear during the ceremony and later on gave a speech in which he, according to African tradition gave his daughter a new name; Ntombikaiyse, which means 'Dad's little girl'. “She will always be that to me”, Mr Tainton said.
Blossom getting married also means a new son for Mr Tainton, who after the ceremony, “said 'welcome into the club' to Hasse. I now have four sons.” Swedish diminutive for Hans, author's comment
However, the honeymoon for Mrs Lindquist – formerly known as Ms Tainton – and her husband is going to have to wait until September of this year because of Afro-Dite's road tour.
