The host broadcaster for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, DR, has revealed rumours on who may welcome the world to Copenhagen in May.
Following on from the semi-final allocation draw on Monday, the preparations for the 59th Eurovision Song Contest are now in full swing. The Eurovision Song Contest is technically a song competition but as many people know it is so much more. Many elements help to make the Eurovision Song Contest ‘Europe favourite TV show’ such as the costume and the dance routine. One of the key elements is the host. This year the Danish broadcaster DR has rumoured 6 Danish presenters who are in the running to host the competition in May.
After presenting the semi final allocation draw Tine Gøtzsche and Ms Essendrop have now caused rumours on the social network especially on Facebook. This rumour has received positive attention with one face book user saying the ‘Here’s the host to Eurovision’.
Other contenders are former Strictly Come Dancing host Christiane Schamburg-Muller and DR host Lise Rønne.
DR’s Eurovision manager Pernille Gaardbo is delighted to see that there is a huge interests on who will host the show. Speaking to DR Pernille said:
We look forward enormously to tell who will be the hosts when we are ready to tell it. But until then it’s a well-kept state secret.
Other favourites for the job are Peter Schmeichel, Mads Steffensen, Simon Kvamm, Lene Nystrom and the 2014 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix hosts Louise Wolff Jacob Riising.
For many years it has been a tradition to see the Eurovision Song Contest hosted by a male and female presenter but ever since the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow the tradition has been broken.
Moscow 2009– 4 hosts Natalia Vodianova, Andrey Malahov, Ivan Urgant and Alsou
Oslo 2010 -3 hosts Erik Solbakken, Haddy N’jje and Nadia Hasnaoui
Dusseldorf 2011– 3 hosts Anke Engelke, Judith Rakers and Stefan Rabb
Baku 2012- 3 hosts Leyla Aliyeva, Eldar Gasimov and Nargiz Birk-Petersen
Malmo 2013- 1 host Petra Mede
Will Denmark go for the one host like Sweden or go for four like Russia. Only time will tell.
