LRT,  the Lithuanian national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that the date for the 2014 Lithuanian national final- Eurovizijos 2014 has been changed from 15 February to 1 March. Due to high viewing figures and massive response the show has received in Lithunia, LRT has decided to extend the 2014 Lithuanian national selection.

All the participating candidates in the 2014 Lithuanian national selection are established and recognised singers in Lithuania and have generated  much interest and excitement among the viewers.

LRT has informed esctoday.com that the shows have been extended until 1 March, thus slowing the elimination of the songs and candidates in order to create more suspense and excitement. The 2014 Lithuanian represenative and entry will be selected during the national final on 1 March via a jury/public televoting deliberation. LRT will hold a special Good Luck Concert for the 2014 Lithuanian Eurovision representative on 15 at the LRT studios, where many special guests will be invited to perform. LRT is planning to invite former Lithuanian Eurovision representatives along with some of the 2014 Eurovision candidates to perform at this special concert.

A total of 20 acts and 16 songs are set to battle for the golden ticket to Copenhangen. The Lithuanian national selection kicked off on 14 of December with a special Jubilee show celebrating the 20th anniversary of Lithuania’s debut at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Andrius Pojavis represented Lithuania at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Something, achieving a 22nd place in the final.

Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at Europe’s favourite television show was in 2006 when LT United achieved a 6th placing in the Eurovision Song Contest final in Athens.
