RAI, the Italian national broadcaster has announced today that Emma Marrone will represent Italy at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.

Emma has been selected via an internal selection to fly the Italian flag at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Since its return to the Eurovision Song Contest Italy has selected its representatives via the celebrated Italian musical festival Sanremo. In 2011, 2012 and 2013 Italy sent their Eurovision hopefuls from the Sanremo Song Festival: Raphael Gualazzi, Nina Zilli and Marco Mengoni.

Hence this year RAI has not opted for selecting its Eurovision representative via Sanremo but via an internal selection. RAI is yet to confirm the title of the 2014 Italian entry.

Emma Marrone is among the most sought after stars in Italy today, enjoying great recognition, name, fame and popularity. She was runner up at the 2011 Sanremo Song Festival with Moda and their entry Arrivera and in 2012 she won the  2012 Sanremo competition with Non è l’inferno.
