Eurovision 2014: DR reveals postcards idea

With the 2014 national final season underway and EBU announcing that 37 countries will take part in Copenhagen, it’s time for DR, the broadcaster responsible for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, to reveal their idea for the postcards.

The postcards are short clips shown before each country performs. In recent years we have seen many different and original ideas from various broadcasters. This year, DR wants to get closer to the participants during the postcards. Show producer Jan Lagermand Lundme says their ambition is to make the viewer feel like they know the artist who’s on stage. The idea is to not promote Denmark through the postcards themselves but to promote Denmark through their innovative ideas.

The postcards will consist of the artist creating the flag of their respective country. DR will collaborate with Treshow Film Production to produce the postcards. Like last year, a production crew will visit all 37 countries to film the artist in their own country.

Denmark won the right to host the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest when Emmelie de Forest won last last year with Only Teardrops.
