The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, CyBC, during last night's Board Meeting officially decided that the next representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest are Evridiki and Dimitris Korgialas. This is the third time that Evridiki represents the Mediterranean island. The song is composed by her fiance Dimitris Korgialas

Thirteen years after her latest appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, in 1994, with the song Ime anthropos ki ego, Evridiki will try to qualify Cyprus to the final of the Eurovision Song Conteston 12th May in Helsinki. In the previous two years the country didn't manage to proceed to the final after the disappointing results of Constantinos Christoforou in 2005 and Annete Artani in 2006. Evridiki has been heavily tipped as the island's representative since last summer.

Evridiki is well known to the fans of the contest, as she has been a backing vocalist three times, in 1983 ( I agapi akoma zei), 1986 ( Tora zo) and 1987 ( Aspro mavro) and as a soloist twice, in 1992 ( Teriazume, 11 position- 57 points) and in 1994 ( Ime antropos ki ego, 11 position- 51 points). This year she’ll perform the song Comme ci commeça , a ‘new wave electro-pop’ track, composed by her fiance, Dimitris Korgialas, with Greek and French lyrics.
