Eurovision 2014: volunteers needed!

When the Eurovision Song Contest comes to town the host city wants to show itself off to those coming from the participating countries from across Europe.

visitcopenhagen.com is the site that many tourists go to so that they can find recommendations for the best places to go, things to see and places to stay. It is also the company which will be in charge of the tourist activities for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

They have put out a call for volunteers to take the roles of looking after the delegations who will be taking part in the event. Those who are accepted will have a very important role from the first to the last day of the contest. Looking back several years their jobs have been of strategic importance in providing information and assistance, and also escorting delegates to where they need to be.

The host teams will consist of two or three people who will be with their allocated country from the meet and greet to the goodbyes. They will be the conduit linking VisitCopenhagen and the people they are looking after.

It’s not an easy job as they will need to have a very good knowledge of the host city, Copenhagen, and the contest itself. Also an ability to work under pressure and adapt as the situations demand. Fluent Danish and English is required along with one other language of the participating countries.

Further details of the role can be found here and the application form here. The application deadline is 12 January 2014.
