TRM, the Moldovan national broadcaster has announced the dates of the dates for the 2014 Moldovan Eurovision national selection, which will consist of 2 semi-finals and a grand final. A total of 24 acts will compete in their quest to represent Moldova in Copenhagen.

The  semi-finals are scheduled to be held on 11-13 March whilst the grand final is scheduled to be held on 15 March in Chisinau. The 2014 Moldovan entry will be selected via a jury/public televoting deliberation.

Candidates wishing to compete in the national selection can do so by submitting their applications to TRM latest by 23 January. The national selection will be held in 3 stages prior to the grand final:  1. selection of entries via audio hearing and internal deliberation after evaluating the entries, 2. 60 acts will be invited for a live audition scheduled to held on 1 February, 24 will be shorlisted for the semi-finals via a jury deliberation, 3. 12 acts will compete in each semifinal (7 or 8 acts from each semi-final will proceed to the grand final).

Moldova debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 6th place in 2005 when they debuted at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with Zdob Si Zdub‘s Bunika Bate Toba!

Aliona Moon represented Moldova at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry O mie, achieving a 11th placing in the final. Moldova has not missed a single contest since their debut in 2005, having competed a total of 9 times in the event.
