Melodifestivalen goes musical

Forget the regular and sometimes boring interval act. This year producer Per Blomquist has come up with a new fresh idea for the interval act during Melodifestivalen 2007, the Swedish national final, and it is Melodifestivalen – the musical.

While the people of Sweden are voting like crazy in the upcoming heats of Melodifestivalen, all viewers will be told a story about a country girl called Judy. Judy dreams of becoming a famous singer. This story will be told during all semifinals of Melodifestivalen 2007 ,starting in Jönköping on 3rdFebruary.

We will follow Judy and her dreams on their way towards Globen. Judy will be played by Hanna Norrman and her best friend will be played by Gunilla Backman, one of Sweden's most famous musical stars. Other Swedish stars of the musical scene will also be on stage such as Fred Johansson and Anki Albertsson.

SVT and Per Blomquist tell that they wanted to do something completely new this year for the interval act. Previous years we have invited previous participants as Svenne & Lotta or Tommy Körberg. But this year we will try this new concept by telling a story during the whole tour.Judy will be flirting a lot with songs and artists that have taken part in the past. The music will of course be familiar in this mini musical since it's gonna be many of Sweden's past entries like Waterloo (ABBA, 1st place in 1974), Diggi-loo Diggy-ley (The Herreys, 1st place in 1984) and Judy min vän (Tommy Körberg, 9th in 1969).
