RÚV have chosen a host for the semi finals and the final of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2007, the Icelandic national final. Her name is Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir and she already has some Eurovision Song Contest experience since she announced the Icelandic points in the 2006 edition.

Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir has been working as a TV host for some time; among others she presented the show Kastljós. In 2003 she was chosen Miss Iceland.

Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2007, will take place on Saturday 17th February. The three semi-finals will take place on 20th January, 27th January and 3rd February. The songs must be performed in Icelandic in the national semi finals and final but can be performed in English, or another language, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki.

In 2006, Icelandfailed to qualify in the semi final with Congratulations, performed by Silvia Night. Therefore, the 2007 Icelandic representative will also have to go through the semi final.

Iceland entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986. After some low results at the beginning and some better results in the 1990s, Selma achieved a 2nd place in 1999 with All out of luck, which is the best result so far.
