ERT official spokesperson confirmed today to esctoday.com the list of participants for the country's National Final. The finalists are as reported earlier Christos Dantis, Tamta, Sarbel (or Charbel , the spelling used in his label's official site) and the group C:Real. The broadcaster also confirmed that news spread yesterday concerning C:Real's possible reversal were totally false.

Concerning the rumours being spread about problems in the group's participation, the same ERT officials told esctoday.com:

"There is no doubt about C:Real participating. The story that appeared yesterday is not true at all and has no foundation. They did not make any comments about participating against other well known singers. They are popular in their own right and all acts are looking forward to the show. More news will be revealed at the press conference on Tuesday".

A National final marks a change in strategy for Greece after selecting their Eurovision Song Contest representative internally for three years. In 2004, Sakis Rouvas took Greece to 3rd place with Shake it, their equal best position. A year later, Helena Paparizou went to Kyiv with My number one after a public song selection show and brought Greece it's first victory at the event. Last year, Anna Vissi sung Everything and claimed 9th place.

Anna's position in Athensmarked the first time that Greece has achieved three consecutive top 10 finishes since 1977-79, meaning that whoever wins the final will automatically be qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest final in Helsinki on 12th May.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
