EER, the Estonian broadcaster, has received a record breaking amount of entries to compete in Eesti Laul. A total of 189 demos have been sent into the broadcaster.

Ruth Heinmaa, from ERR, has said that around half of the entries were received today – which was the deadline for interested artists to apply. A special jury will listen to all the entries and choose their top 20 for the live shows. Those participants will be revealed on 12th December during “Ringvaate“, which is a popular Estonian television show.

The first semi final of Eesti Laul will be held on 14th February while the second semi final will take place a week later. The grand final will be held on 1st March in Nokia Concert Hall, in Tallinn.

Birgit Oigemeel represented Estonia at  2013 the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with  Et uus saaks alguse achieving a 20th place in the final.
