German broadcaster NDR, has announced that a wildcard will be awarded to a new artist or band for Unser Song für Dänemark, country’s national selection process that will define the German representative in 2014 Eurovision Song Contest final in May.
NDR, has announced today that Unser Song für Dänemark, the German national selection, will give the chance to young musicians and singers to participate in the song selection process.
Newcomers to the German music scene can upload either their own composition or a cover version of a popular song to Youtube from next Monday, 25 November. From there, Adel Tawil, the mentor of this competition, will choose the best 8 artists (which will be announced by NDR in mid-December), to compete in a club concert on 27th February in Hamburg. The 8 acts have to sing 2 songs each. The viewers will get a chance to vote for who they think should get the wildcard to the Unser Song für Dänemark which will be held on 13th March 2014 in Cologne.
Germany was one of the seven founders of the Eurovision in 1956 and have won the event 2 times since then.
