Last 4 Norwegian songs announced

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has announced the last 4 songs that were missing from the line-up of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 2007 – and all of them are by Swedish authors! Lastyear there was a huge outcry in Norway with so many of the 18 songs being of Swedish origin. It will be interesting to see the reactions to today's news.

The 4 songs are:

  • Ven A Bailar Conmigo (Thomas G:son)
  • Vil Du Ha Svar? (Mats Larsson, Åsa Karlsstrøm)
  • "Maybe" (Niclas Molinder, Joachim Persson & Pelle Ankarberg)
  • I Wanna Be With You (Maria Marcus)

The biggest name connected with these songs is once again Thomas G:son. The writer of countless entries in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, including last year's Melodifestivalen winner, Evighet / Invincible for Carola that finished 5th at the Eurovision Song Contest. He has also had songs in Latvia, Estonia and has sent some to the United Kingdom and Spain this year for consideration.

The entry Vil Du Ha Svar by Mats Larsson and, Åsa Karlsstrøm,seems likely to be sung by Anne Nørdsti.

Maybe, by Niclas Molinder, Joachim Perssonand Pelle Ankarberg sees a return to the competition for thewriters of Sunshine, Saturday and I Wanna Be– all fromthe 2006 Melodi Grand Prix

I Wanna Be With You is written by Maria Marcus, a young Swedish songwriter who has written the theme tunes to many hit Swedish shows.

These 4 songs join the other fourteen entrieswhich were announced previously. Click here for the previous article announcing the first 14 entries.

The Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix will start with the first semi on the 20th January in Alta, before moving to Bodø on the 27th, Stokke on the 3rd February, a second chance round in Oslo on the 8th, and then the big final, also in Oslo, on the 10th February.Synnøve Svabø & Stian Barsnes Simonsen will host Melodi Grand Prix 2007.

The names of the performerswill be revealed over three weeks in January. The announcement of the participants in the first semi final will be held on 27th December, followed by the line-up of the second heat on2nd January and the final semi-final list will be announced on 9th January.

The first semi final will take place in Alta on 20th January. The second and third qualifier rounds will be held on 27th January in Bodø and on 3rd February in Stokke. The top two songs will go directly to the final on 10th February while the third and fourth placed participants will enter a second chance round on 8th February.

In 2006, Norway achieved a disappointing 14th place with 36 points in the final round with Christine Gulbrandsen's Alvedansen. Therefore, they will have to enter the semi final in Helsinki.
