Latvian finalists announced

LTV has announced 20 songs that will take part in the competition for the ticket to Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki.

The jury consisting of Eirovizija organization group at LTV (Latvian National Broadcaster), Cosmos (Eurovision Song Contest 2006, Latvia), Wig Wam (Eurovision Song Contest 2005, Norway), Guna Zucika (MTV Baltic), journalist and music critic Sandis Vanzovics, Zdob-si-Zdub (Eurovision Song Contest 2005, Moldova), Andrius Mamontovas (Lithuania) and Mario Galunic (Slovenia) together selected 20 songs out of 106.

The submitted entries have been penned by Latvian as well as Estonian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish and Maltese authors and performed in Latvian, Russian, English,and even without any words. As it appears from the list of semifinalists, there are many names already familiar to Eurovision Song Contest audience, like Lauris Reiniks, Martins Freimanis (represented Latvia in ESC 2003), Robert Wells (Sweden), Marcos Ubeda (written many succesfull ESC and Melodifestivalen (Sweden) songs).

Latvians will select their favourite in two semifinals scheduled on January 27 and February 3 following by the final on February 24.
