It seems like DJ Bobo will have competition after all: Swiss hard rock band Shakra submitted a song to SF for their national selection for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. Lead singer Mark Fox told: It is true, we applied and we won't – with all respect for DJ Bobo – draw in our horns. Our fans all over Europe would be happy after Lordi to see another hard rock band winning the contest.

Shakra are actually from Trub (near Bern) and were founded in the 1990s. The style of the band is described as hard, pithy rock, reminding of the formerSwiss band Korkus. The name Shakra comes from the Asian word Chakra and is the name for the seven energetic centers in the body. Nevertheless,it was not chosen because of esoteric reasons but because it is short, incisive and different from other band's names.

Earlier it has been announced that DJ Bobo submitted a song to SF. The eurodance star is one of the most succesful Swiss singers ever and is therefore highly tipped to represent his country in Helsinki. That's why many other Swiss music acts didn't want to apply for the selection. You can read more here.
