Danish national broadcaster, DR have rejected the possibility to rejoin the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. Instead will continue to participate in the Nordic Melodi Grand Prix. They are very happy with the MGP Nordic 2006 results, not only because they won with the entry from SEB. Birgitte Fredsby of DR officially told our partner-site esconnet.dk that NRK (Norway) and SVT (Sweden) are happy, so none of these broadcastes will return to Junior Eurovision Song Contest next year.
Denmark will not be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest next year in the Netherlands. The show, scheduled for Saturday 8th December 2007, but in an official statement from Birgitte Fredsby, she tells our partner site that “at this time, DR has no plans to turn back to the European model. A Danish comeback will not happen in the nearest future…We have already made plans for next year – MGP Nordic 2007 is already a reality.”
MGP Nordic will be held in Oslo, Norway in 2007 and Denmark, Sweden, Norway and newcomer, Finland, will take part. Iceland are also invited to take part in this Nordic Contest but have not yet made an official decision.
