A good friend of esctoday.com and an ardent Eurovision Song Contest fan passed away at the early age of 23. Dimitris, also known to his friends as Eurofan and Dream, died suddenly last Saturday in sequence of a heart failure.

All the people who knew him admired Dimitris for his sociability, his incredible sense of humour, his love of music, of travelling and his in-depth knowledge of the Eurovision Song Contest. Through the esctoday.com chatroom he made a lot of loving friends from all over Europe, friends who share the same passion for the contest as him and who will not forget him.

Rest in Peace Dream, you will be remembered with love!

The memorial servicewas held today, Tuesday 5th December, at the Vyronas Cemetery in Athens, Greece.

esctoday.com will miss our friend, and send our condolences to Dimitris's family and friends at this tragic time.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
