Eurovision 2014: Hungary confirms participation

MTVA, the Hungarian national broadcaster has confirmed to its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song  Contest. Today the broadcaster has opened a call for songs for composers and singers to submit their applications/songs to the broadcaster as of today until 1 December.

Last July MTVA had informed that Hungary would most likely participate at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. Now we can confirm that Hungary will indeed participate in the forthcoming Eurovision edition.

The method and mechanism to select the 2014 Hungarian entry will be again A Dal, the Hungarian Eurovision national selection. A Dal 2014 will consist of 3 shows (2 semifinals and a grand final), which are scheduled to be held early next year. The exact dates will be released in due course. The rules and regulations for the 2014 A Dal national selection can be found on MTVA’s official A Dal page.

Sweden, DenmarkFinland, Norway, FranceAlbania, Iceland, Ireland, San Marino, Georgia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Estonia, Malta, Russia, Germany, AustriaFYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Belgium, Spain ,United Kingdom and Latvia, Lithuania ,Belarus and Hungary have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Denmark. Whilst Italy, Ukraine, Moldova and Slovenia have said they will most likely be in the competition.

Hungary debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 4th place in 1994 when they debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with Frederika Bayer’s’s Kinek Mondjam Al Vetkeimet!
