Danish broadcaster DR will hold a press conference at noon this Thursday, 7th December 2006, to announce the sixteen songs, writers and also artists for Denmark's Eurovision Song Contest selection for Helsinki 2007.

The presenters of the Danish selection will also be present to answer questions after the songs and their performers have been unveiled.

This year, Denmark will be following a similar format to nearby Sweden, with semifinals in Musikteatret Holstebro on January 26th and Kultur Center on February 2nd. The lucky artists from these two shows will compete in a grand final on February 10th at the Forum Horsens.

Stiff competition
Denmark will be hoping to duplicate the success of Sweden's Melodifestivalen at the contest, after finishing in a very disappointing 18th place at the final in Athens this year. Due to that poor result, the country sees itself in the semifinal for 2007, facing what will probably be even more competition, with the EBU's announcement that potentially all 43 registered countries will be present in Finland.

In recent years, many people feel that Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is one of the most improved national finals. You can purchase the CDs of the recent finals along with a 'greatest hits' CD featuring the Danish Eurovision entries, some of the all time favourites and a couple of former Eurovision Song Contest entries in English and French below (full tracklist below):
