Anna Book is appearing at Melodifestvalen for the third time in 2007. Last time was 20 years ago in 1987 when she perfomed the song “Det en finns en morgondag” which finished last. First time was in 1986 with the cult schlager “ABC” which finished 4th. Today esctoday.com caught up with Anna.

It´s 20 years since you took part the last time in 1987, why now?
“Why not? It´s about time for me again to come on stage and do a fantastic schlager song, don´t you think?”
That will be fantastic! Can you describe your song?
“Well it�s a very happy and catchy song in the same style as ABC, a classical Swedish schlager I would say”.
Can we expect something extra in your stage performance?
“Yes you can, I will do a big show number with a gorgeous dress, sexy dancers, a totally new kind of schlager show” laughs menacingly .
What is your own favourite Melodfestivalen song?
“It�s got to be Min kärlek by Shirly Clamp from 2004”.
Can you compete in music?
“Of course you can, perhaps it�s not very fair since music is very subjective to the one who listens to it. But of course it can be competitive, everyone wants their song to be popular and you want to win of course! The main thing is that it is so much fun to take part in this huge even, it has to be fun or there�s no point”.
Do you think it is a negative thing to have such a classic type of song in the contest nowdays?
“Not negative perhaps, but many people will for sure say that this is very old fashioned and does not belong in the contest today. I�m a very strong and smart girl so I know what I�m doing, and I think it�s great that this kind of song is in the competition still, it�s good to have variety so the whole audience is catered for. Who knows, maybe my song can still win?”
Lordi won last years Eurovison Song Contest, do you think it will have any influence on this year?
“No, not really and if you look at the 28 songs so far there are no such songs. I don´t think anyone would like to copy them since it would not be such a good idea”.
What would you say if you were to win Melodifestivalen 2007?
“I would say Fantastic!!!! laughs . It would be so great to represent Sweden in Helsinki and I would be the same old Anna there as here in Sweden. And of course I would bring the trophy home back to Sweden again”.
