Olia Kharlap, one of the girls in the Ukrainian backing dance troop young dancers had an accident just seconds before the end of their second rehearsal at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest. It seems that there she has seriously hurt one leg and is facing surgery to repair what seems to be a broken leg. She will miss the show on December 2nd.
Third day of the rehearsals today and everything was going well until Ukraine went on stage. Some seconds before the end of the song and when preparing for the final pose, one of the dancers had an accident. The 12 year old young girl had a serious fall and was quickly assisted by the medical staff thatarepresent at all times.
Fortunately near the stage happened to be present the choreographer of the Romanian delegation, Mrs. Lusia Smetanina, since Romania had just finished the rehearsal. Mrs. Smetanina is of Ukrainian origin and helpedwith the translation between the doctors and members of the Ukrainian delegation.
Mrs. Victoria Kravchenko, Head of the Ukrainian Delegation, declared that any decision about changing the choreography would be taken after the medical verdict. “For us, the most important thing is the child’s health, only after that we’ll think about other things”.
This is Ukraine's debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest andis represented by Nazar Slyusarchuk with the song Khlopchyk Rock-N-Roll.
