Few Eurovision artists have made the Atlantic leap to a successful career in the USA. But things are looking good for Norway 2013 participant Margaret Berger, who has just been snapped up by an American label.

New York-grown electonic dance outfit Ultra Music have worked with international acts like Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Basshunter, and are positioning Margaret for US success. Keeping the link with the contest, her initial contract kicks off with an American release of her Eurovision Song Contest title I Feed You My Love. With luck, success with that may lead on to a release of Margaret’s album Religion and a second single from that.

Utopian dream – American dream

For the singer, it’s a great fit. “I see myself as an electonic artist, and this is like getting respect from a group of people I have a lot of respect for” she explains on NRK.no. While keeping her feet on the ground, and admitting that it’s a “very different market from Europe“, it is clear that the initial act of winning a contract is a ‘utopian‘ goal ticked off the singer’s wishlist.

In any case, Norway’s top-five Malmö star is poised for great things. Embarking on the next big stage of her career across the Pond, she promises fans that “I’m ready with my suitcases if anything happens!
