French head of delegation, Bruno Berberes, has revealed the first information on the selection for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest to esctoday.com. This year, the authors and composers who have been very succesful in France over the last five years are asked by French television to submit an entry.
Bruno Berberes told esctoday: "We have already received some great proposals. The French selection will represent all kinds of current music styles, including r'n'b, rock, ethinc styles and 'nouvelle scène'. We promise you some nice surprises… Our aim is to win again. Good luck to everyone!"
Furthermore, they will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the last French victory so far, achieved by Marie Myriam in London in 1977. Her entry L'oiseau et l'enfant (The bird and the child) is still very popular in France.
France finished 22nd (third from last) in this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Athens with the song Il était temps (It was time). As part of the 'big 4', Franceis nevertheless directly qualified for the final round in Helsinki.
