Estonian broadcaster ETV has announced that Eurolaul 2007 will take place on Saturday 3rd February 2007. The show will consist of ten songs, written by composers invited to participate. The list of composers was released last week. Marko Reikop and Maarja Liis-Ilus (who represented Estonia in 1996 and 1997) will host the show, and the song that goes on to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki will be selected via two rounds of televoting. On Saturday 27th January, ETV will be broadcasting a preview show for the public to get to know the participants, songwriters and of course the songs.

ETV spoke to esctoday.com this morning and confirmed that as part of the agreement with the composers, they are free to sing their entries or select artists to sing their songs. This means that the chances of seeing Ines and Vanilla Ninja at Eurolaul 2007 are high, although at this stage, there is no confirmation from ETV, Ines, Lenna Kuurmaa or any other members of Vanilla Ninja, that they will participate.

Initial discussions took place with several composers. Some were unable to participate due to international commitments or conflicting plans, but ETV are very happy with their final selection.

We also asked ETV if they will broadcast Eurolaul 2007 on the Internet. They have confirmed that they want to broadcast the show live on the Internet, and plan to do so. The main problem is not with ETV but the Estonian Telecom company. If the connection is strong enough, the show will be aired online. We will bring you more news and confirmation of the Internet broadcast as soon as it is available.
