With news about Ace of Base's interest in representing the United Kingdom at 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, rumours about the Scissor Sisters writing an entry and Daz Sampson's declaration that he wants to carry the Union Jack flag for a second year running, esctoday.com spoke to the BBC to discuss the plans for 2007.

Last week Kevin Bishop told esctoday.com that no artists had yet been formally approached. Today Dominic Smith elaborated on this, explaining: "We are going on with all the offers, we are having conversations with most of the major record companies about various artists and songwritersand we would welcome a song from the scissor sisters, obviously".

We asked when the BBC will be able to tell us the format for the 2007 national selection process and programming details. We understand that plans are now in an advanced stage, andhope to know the exact format for 2007 in early November.
