We can now exclusively confirm from sources at SVT that 2006 Eurovision Song Contest Romanian entrant Mihai Traistariu did indeed submit a song for Melodifestivalen, but it did not reach the final 28.

The songs will go into four semifinals to be held at:
1st semi final: 3 February -Kinnarps arena, Jönköping
2nd semi final:10 February -Scandinavium, Göteborg
3rd semi final: 17 February -Swebank arena, Örnsköldsvik
4th semi final: 24 February -Läkerol arena, Gävle
The two most popular songs by way of a televote progress directly to the final, the songs placed 3rd and 4th progress to the 'new and improved' second chance round. This year sees a change to the Melodifestivalen selection process, with the songs in the second chance round competing in a 'knock-out' style show. 8 songs will compete in pairs during a live show. The four successful songs will then compete in pairs again to decide the two final places at the Melodifestivalen grand final. These shows will take place on:
2nd chance round:3 March -Rosvalla event center, Nyköping
Grand Final:10 March -Globen, Stockholm
