Olexandr Ponomariov married his girlfriend Viktoria on 28th August 2006. The couple already have two children.

His marriage wasn't the only good thing that happened to Olexandr recently. A few days before his marriage, onAugust 18th,the president of Ukraine, Victor Yushcenko, offered Olexandr the title and position of People artist of Ukraine. On September 7th, Olexandr appeared and performed atПесня года 2006, which took place at the Sports Palace in Kyiv, the venue for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.

In 2003Olexandr achieved a 14th place at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Hasta la vista.
