It was meant to be a secret until the day of the concert, but the artist herself was too excited to keep the secret and we now know that it is the Eurovision Song Contest winner from 1991, Carola who will take to the WONK stage tonight at Amiralen on 14 May.

Carola has written about her forthcoming performance on her blog.

Carola celebrated this year the 30th anniversary of winning the Swedish Melodifestivalen with Främling. It was at the Palladium theatre in Malmö she won the Swedish national final, getting a record score from all regional juries. She performed the new version of the song at the Melodifestivalen final in May.

The then 16-year-old singer finished third at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest in Munich and became immediately a household name in Sweden.

In 1991 she took to the Eurovision Song Contest stage again in Rome with Fångad av en stormvind. This time she received exactly the same number of votes as the French entry, but after a countback of high votes Sweden was declared winner for the third time in the song contest history.

Carola returned to the international contest once more in 2006 in Athens. With the song Invincible she got fifth in the contest, making her easily the most successful Swedish Eurovision artist ever.
