Joël Prévost, French representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 in Paris, is currently being held in custody in Senegal following allegations of fraud, French Eurovision site eurovision-fr.net reported today.

Joël Prévost, or Jean Luc Poteux by his real name, is currently being held while the case is prepared. The French singer, who was extradited from Mali last year, is alleged to have defrauded up to five individuals and businesses in the country.

Sources at the French embassy in Dakar confirm that Mr Prévost remains in good health and good spirits while in prison. Joël Prévost represented France on home soil in 1978, singing Il y aura toujours des violons (There'll always be violins) to third place behind Belgium and Israel.
