For the third year running. the Finnish national final to find the successor to Lordi will be held at the Spa Hotel Caribia in Turku. The date for the final has been confirmed as Saturday 17 February, 2007.

Executive Producer for the show, Timo Suomi, said"Turku and Caribia are perfectly suited for a Finnish national final. We have good experiences from there from two years…Turku has shown good Eurovision spirit". The residents of Turku will be pleased to host the national final after missing out on the honour of hosting the Eurovision Song Contest after a strong bid for the show.

The final will be a televised public event, arranged by Melodia Oy, part of Eastway and tickets will go on sale in the beginning of October. The show is produced by YLE Entertainment and it will be shown on YLE TV2. Also YLE's Finnish and Swedish language radio stations will be involved heavily in the arrangements. Rules in Finnish and Swedish available at www.yle.fi/eurovision.

It is unlikely that the show will be broadcast over the internet becuase YLEhas no contract with the copyright organisation Grammex over music on the internet. Unless an agreement can be reached, there is little hope of any more YLE programs available on the internet.

In previous years the Finnish national finals have been seen on YLE's international satellite channel TV Finland (on cable in parts of Sweden), which can be seen with a viewing card all over Europe with a satellite receiver. We will be seeking confirmation that this will be the case for the 2007 final and will inform readers when this is confirmed.

As the winners of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, Finland are of course qualified directly for the final of the competion on May 12 2007.
