The heavens were not kind to Lordi last night, as a torrential downpour in Belgium forced the band to cancel an exclusive open-air concert at the castle of Mesen in Lede.

The event, which had been organised for the Belgian press amidst high secrecy, was intended as a promotional showcase for the band's album The Arockalypse. All started off well, as journalists were greeted by the sinister Von Hansen family, styled as distant relatives of Lordi. However, the gods were clearly not smiling on the Finnish rockers that evening, and sudden heavy rain forced a cancellation of the highly anticipated performance.

Lordi had experienced more luck earlier in the day, when they visited the city of Leuven and greeted crowds of fans eager for autographs. The band will be hoping for kinder weather – or at least good cover in bad weather -to accompany the rest of their promotional dates across Europe!
