Surprise success for Belle

A surprise international success for third-placed Belgian finalist Belle Perez, proves that it is not just winning national finals songs that can enjoy attention outside their home countries.

The song El mundo bailando, which took the bronze position behind Kate Ryan, has been selected as the theme tune for the Maltese show Fil-Pjazza tar-Rahal (The Town Square), a prime-time entertainment programme which will tour the countries towns and villages, and be broadcast on state channel PBS. Belle herself, who took part in the Belgian national selections of 2006 and 1999 (finding commercial but not competitive success with Hello world), will be the guest of honour on Fil-Pjazza tar-Rahal this September.

Back in Belgium, Belle has been busy promoting her new album Gotitas de amor (Droplets of love), and now a release of both El mundo bailando and the album in Malta seem on the cards.
