The costumes that Lordi's members wear may make them look like creatures from hell, but they recently faced infernal temperatures at a Heavy Metal awards evening in a London club.
After accepting the Spirit of the Hammer award at the lavish metal bash in the UK capital, the monster Finns had to be hosed down with cold water after temperatures at the Koko Club reached a sizzling 40 degrees. One fan is quoted as saying "God only knows how they didn't pass out". Others compared the evening to "like being inside an oven".
Lordi are no doubt used to braving high temperatures, after spending nearly two weeks in sunny Athens for the Eurovision Song Contest, and not once appearing in public without their costumes. Appearing in character at all times is Lordi's way of keeping up the fantasy and fun beind the band, as frontman Mr. Lordi explained in Athens; the band members' willingness to suffer for their art is a sure sign of the dedication they share to that ethos of entertainment!
