The Russian delegatation is optimistic after a second place at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. Dima Bilan was happy with the result. 44 points seperated winner Finland and runner-up Russia from eachother.

Yana Rudkovskaya, producer of Dima Bilan, said to esctoday.com: "Of all participating people, we came first. Only because of the monsters we came second (laugs)". In 2000, Russia also came second with Alsou's Solo.

Philipp Kirkorov, who represented Russia once himself, is proud on the results; "Dima did a great job and this is great for Russia", he said. Would he take part again himself? "Yes, sure! But only with the right song", he answered.

Vlad Yakovlev, president of OGAE Russia and observer for the Russian broadcaster RTR, said to esctoday.com: "We are totally satisfied with our second place. We did all possible efforts so we have nothing to regret", he commented. "Next year, we would really support to see Varvara representing Russia at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest", Yakovlev said.
