The second day of rehearsals gets under way today and an existing controversy comes up again. In an official memo, which we published already last week, allegedly from Svante Stockselius, the EBU have informed the Icelandic delegation that the explicit content of their entry Congratulations may be in violation of two of the contest rules.

Publishedon her official web site silvianight.com, the memo lists both rules that are in violation in connection with the songs lyrics.

  • Section 5.12 – Where no changes of the lyrics is possible after the official delivery of the song and lyrics at the meeting of the Heads of Delegation in Athens on 20-21 March 2006.
  • Section 5.13 – Where it says that the lyrics and/or the performance of the songs shall not bring the Contest Final or the Eurovision Song Contest as such into disripute.

The memo contains a plea to the Icelandic delegation to consider these rules before Silvia makes her first appearance later today, as any violation of these rules could lead to the song's disqualification. Today it will become clear if Silvia Night actually cares about the EBU's official complaintor if she will "fucking say" what she "fucking wants".

As ever, your esctoday.com team will be here in Athens to bring you all the latest news from Silvia's rehearsal and press conference later today.
