Swedish commercial channel TV4, member of the European Broadcasting Union, will take over the Junior Eurovision Song Contest from SVT. This means Sweden will be represented at the 2006 Junior Eurovision Song Contest after all. Åsa Sjöberg of TV4 confirmed that to escsweden.com.

Continuing traditions
“It feels really good to continue the traditions we started with our former children shows as Little Stars and Super Trouper. There will be a national selection early autumn, but it is still too early to go into details”, Sjöberg said.

Two contests
TV4's involvement means that Sweden will now take part in two international junior song contests. SVT takes part in the Nordic junior contest, TV4 will send a representative to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

About TV4
TV4 is the largest commercial television channel in Sweden. It started broadcasting by satellite in 1990 and, since 1992, on the terrestrial network. In 1994, TV4 became the largest channel and remained so for a number of years. The two channels of SVT lost more and more viewers for a couple of years. But in 2001, SVT made big schedule changes. After making schedule changes in 2001, SVT1 had practically the same numbers of viewers as TV 4. For more information about TV4, check out Wikipedia!
