The esctoday.com BigPoll 2006 is now open. The BigPoll is a predictive tool, used to allow our readers to predict the outcome of the Eurovision Song Contest – not to vote for your favourite. The poll will remain open until 18:00 CET on Thursday 18th May, 2006. The BigPoll for the final will open at the end of the semifinal broadcast and will remain open until 18:00 CET on Saturday 20th May, 2006.
Remember, this is a prediction tool, not a popularity vote. Prizes will be available for the closest predictions (details of the prizes will be announced shortly).
Last year, the BigPoll results were discussed by several broadcasters during the semifinal and final broadcasts of the Eurovision Song Contest. So, make sure that you help us to maintain this strength! Predict as accurately as you can and let's make the BigPoll 2006 our most accurate yet!
Over the last two years, your predictions have helped broadcasters, commentators, singers, stategists, PR gurus and bookies to improve their roles! The BigPoll is the largest and most respected predictive tool on the net. Last year, eight of the songs most predicted to finish in the top ten were there! We would like to thank you, our readers, for this.
Please also note that we will not be publishing early results for the first few hours. This is to ensure that we have a good few predictions set already and that no influence is given by a mere few predictors! So don't be alarmed if you can't see results as soon as you have voted at this stage!
UPDATE: The official logo for BigPoll 2006 has been chosen! Jason Ching, the designer of the logo ánd winner of the competition, says: “I wanted to create a design that celebrates all that is great about the contest. I didn't want to imitate the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 look, instead I took references from shapes and colours. The type is deliberately bold for impact. The shapes and swirls reflect the glitz, energy and fun nature of the show. The Phaistos Disc is represented here, as well as the Eurovision Song Contest heart and esctoday.com star”. Jason, congratulations!
