Radio Television of Serbia and Radio Television of Montenegro (UJRT) officially confirmed to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) the withdrawal of Serbia & Montenegro from the 51st Eurovision Song Contest.
Radio Television of Serbia and Radio Television of Montenegro were unable to reach a mutual decision as to the contestant to represent Serbia and Montenegro at the upcoming contest in Athens.
The number of countries taking part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest is now 37 instead of 38.
As a consequence of withdrawing from the contest, UJRT is still under the obligation to pay its participation fee. Nevertheless, UJRT will broadcast the semifinal and final and viewers in Serbia & Montenegro will also be able to take part in the televoting.
As a direct consequence of Serbia & Montenegro's withdrawal, Croatia is automatically qualified for the final.
