If what we are reading from Sweden is to be believed, Carola Häggkvist will breeze through tomorrow's fourth and final Melodifestivalen semifinal in Gothenburg, take Stockholm by storm and take her third Eurovision Song Contest entry to Athens. In today's edition of Aftonbladet, Sweden's premier newspaper, we are told that “It's not even a competition any more…She will turn the competition into smoke, ashes and tiny molecules”.

Markus Larsson goes on to write in Aftonbladet that “we all knew that she can explode on the stage, but this is just the rehearsal… it's a shock”.. Rising star of the Swedish stage, Urban Haglund commented “These are big words even for Carola don't you think? Carola is gonna crush everyone else according to the papers today… just what I thought!”.

We are also told by gylleneskor.se that if Carola wins in the final and does well at the Eurovision Song Contest, she will try to break into the rest of Europe. The plan is to release an album with new songs and rerecorded older songs. In association with our partners, Gylleneskor.se, esctoday.com is covering all the Melodifestivalen shows live. Covering the rehearsals for the Gothenburg heat, we can bring you the following reviews.

Roger Pontare
Two times winner Roger Pontare is back with a song that has the classic We will rock you beat to it. The Indian like clothes are gone. He now takes inspiration from north of Sweden. His choir symbolizes water, wind, grass and reindeer.

Laila Adéle
Laila Adéle is a new face for the public, She is glad to be in the contest, and put some soul vibe into it. Her inspiration comes from stars like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. Her performance was funky. Looks like a diva from En Vogue or Destiny's Child.

Günther & The Sunshine Girls
Günther & The Sunshine Girls put eurodance back in the contest. He will fallow up his now classic hits Ding dong song, Teeny weenie string bikini and Touch me (featuring Samantha Fox) with a new, up tempo song.

Sandra Dahlberg
Sandra Dahlberg is back in Melodifestivalen, last time, 2004 she ended up at number eight with Här stannar jag kvar. This years song has more attitude then last time and with a motorcycle on stage she hope to win.

Evan
Evan have had two hits, Will you love me forever and Everything I´d ever do. His new song is a synthpop anthem. Five dancers join Evan in the stage.

Björn Kjellman
Björn Kjellman, a famous actor in Sweden, makes his melodifestival debut. But he doesnt leave the movie business entirely. His performance on stage synchronizes with the movie he has behind him on stage.

Carola Häggkvist
Carola Häggkvist closes the show with her return to Melodifestivalen. After the celebration at Congratulations, she have felt that it would be fun to compete in the festival again. This is her forth time. She has won two times before, with Främling in 1983 and Fångad av en stormvind in 1991 (which went on to become Sweden's third Eurovision Song Contest victory), and she aims for victory again with new song, Evighet.

The performance today was strong even though she was said to be holding back. Two from the choir had blue flags and her dancers have silver flags waving on stage. She is also using the catwalk and of course the much talked about return of the wind machine (seen chatting with Lena's microphone and Herreys' gold boots in special segments during the broadcasts). Last time she had wind in her hair was 1991 and that year she also won Eurovision Song contest.

All the stars joined up later when Gothenburg municipality invited all people around Melodifestivalen to dinner. The theme was shellfish buffet. The host, Lena Philipsson, also joined and everyone seemed to have a pleasant time.
