The artist to represent Spain at the 51st Eurovision Song Contest in Athens will be known for sure this Monday, 27th February. The announcement will be made on a live TV show on Monday evening, and will put an end to speculation over the identity of the selected performers.

Rumours had circulated that initially tipped trio Las Ketchup to fly the Spanish flag. Reports from our colleagues at eurovision-spain.com have hinted at an internal selection featuring not only Las Ketchup, but also former entrants Azúcar Moreno who came fifth in Zagreb in 1990, and David Civera, who achieved a sixth place for Spain at the Copenhagen contest of 2001. There is rumoured to be a fourth name in this selection which has not yet been leaked.

In a press release on the TVE website, the broadcaster states that 245 entries were submitted in the hope of becoming the Spanish song for Athens. It also confirms that an internal committee is charged with selecting that one successful entry.

Tune in to the announcement live on the program España directo on TVE's first channel, Monday 27th February, from 18:00.
