In tonights second Finnish semifinal we will hear ánd see what Johanna Pakonen, Ville Pusa and Nina & Hanna-Riikka (pictured) have to offer. One thing that is for sure, is the fact that all the artists participating in Eurovision Laulukilpailu already qualified for the final.
Johanna Pakonen will sing her songs in the Finish language, something that is quite rare this year. Liian monta yötä and Kerta viimeinen are her two entries.
Johanna was selected as The queen of Tango during a competition back in 2002. Every since a small child the music has been an important part of her life. Her talents as a radio-DJ have brought much joy to many listeners in Finland. Her successes with her full length albums Anna yksi yö (2003) and Niin kiire rakkauteen (2004) gave Johanna a position as one of the most popular female schlager singers in Finland.
Ville has written his two entries himself; Over you and Eternally. His big debut came in 1998. Ville is a singer, musician and composer, but most of all, as he explains, “I am a human being”. Ville also played in musicals such as Hype, Hair and Saturday night fever.
Nina & Hanna-Riikka
Geir Rönning (Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and Norwegian national selection 2006 a.o.) wrote the song This is what we came for, together with his companion Niklas Rosström. Nina & Hanna-Riikkas other entry is called Who I am.
The girls was formerly known under the name Taikapeili but they have probably chosen a new name that sounds more international. During the 90s they scored big successes on the charts in Finland with many memorable songs such as Jos sulla on toinen and Seuraa johtajaa. Nina has been one of the judges in the Finish Idols and Hanna-Riikka acted as a singing teacher in the same programme. They have also acted in several musicals. They are both experienced with the Eurovision Song Contest as they have participated in National finals in Finland before as solo artists and also done backing vocals.
The televoting numbers of tonight's show can be found here. Voting is only possible calling from Finland. The show starts at 21:00 local time, the results will be presented around 22:15.
