If we may believe newspaper Dnevni Avaz, Hari Varesanovic will represent Bosnia & Herzegovina at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. In a reaction to esctoday.com, PBS BiH didn't confirm or deny the story, but considers this story as “a rumour”. “The only official information about the Bosnian selection for Athens comes through PBS BiH”, Head of Entertainment and Music Dejan Kukric stated.

To the media, song writer Fahrudin Pecikoza explained the situation: “It's almost sure that Hari Varesanovic will represent Bosnia & Herzegovina in Athens”.

Several songs will be composed for a televised national selection, in which the televoters and a jury can select the song Hari will sing in Athens.

Hari Varesanovic is the leadsinger of the group Hari Mata Hari, that won the Bosnian National final for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1999 with the song Starac i more. The song was however disqualified as it was already recorded by the Finnish singer Janne Hurme (in Finnish) as Sydänveri. Dino Merlin & Beatrice, who finished second in the Bosnian National final went to Jerusalem instead.

The Bosnian music scene is generally disappointed about the coice of broadcaster PBS BiH to select its Eurovision Song Contest participant internally. However, internal selection saves PBS BiH a lot of money, which the broadcaster “doesn't have”, according the newspaper.
