Andorran broadcaster RTVA has said it is both surprised and pleased by the response to an open call for singers interested in representing the tiny country at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. DotEurovision.com wrote that, based on sources inside the broadcaster.

Performers who wanted to be considered could send in a CV and up to three songs until the end of 2005. A short-list of four performers has been made already and now the songs are being taken into consideration.

With over 150 songs to listen to, RTVA will be trying to match songs to the voices of its chosen singers. The broadcaster plans to ask each singer if they are happy with their chosen song before making any final decisions. Inside reports suggest that two of those chosen are well known in the Catalan speaking world, the other two are newcomers.

The final process will be an internal choice of both singers and song, with an announcement expected by the first week of February.
